Thai & Therapeutic Massage / Movement Classes / Retreats
Thai Massage, lazy (wo)man’s yoga is a unique and magical combination of mindfulness, gentle rocking, deep stretching, rhythmic compression, energy balancing, meditation and acupressure. It is profoundly therapeutic and relaxing. The treatment style is slow, deliberate, gentle and non-invasive. Thai Massage is good for ALL body types and sizes and ALL levels of conditioning and flexibility. This therapy manifests first in the fluid, rhythmic movement of me. To accomplish this, I must remain in a state of relaxed awareness moving to the natural rhythms of the body, such as breath and pulse.
By freeing the flow of vital energy in the body, you can improve posture, breathing, flexibility, digestion and circulation. Muscles are stretched, inner organs are toned and emotional and nervous tension released. These effects enhance your body’s natural energy flow and promote peace and a quiet mind. Most clients report that following a session, they feel taller, more graceful and more integrated and that they experience a sense of freedom in their body.
I begin a typical session at the feet as you lie on a soft, heated mat. Light, loose-fitting clothing is recommended to allow freedom of body movement. I use my thumbs, palms, elbows, knees and feet to apply acupressure, gentle rocking and assisted yoga stretches throughout the therapy. With the use of my body weight, instead of strength, and a steady, meditative rhythm, Thai Massage looks and feels like a graceful dance between the giver and the receiver.
